Sibuya’s Bush Lodge, set in a pristine wilderness paradise

Can you imagine yourself waking in the morning to the seemingly amplified song of a multitude of birds? Sibuya’s Bush Lodge, set in a pristine wilderness paradise only minutes from the main reserve, will fulfil this dream … truly, the perfect spot to unwind, relax, reflect and revel in the sights and sounds of the African bush. After departing from Kenton and enjoying our unique boat cruise up the Kariega Estuary, Bush Lodge guests enjoy lunch in the Reserve before a short transfer by game vehicle takes them to the Lodge.

This stylish bush destination, which mushrooms from an indigenous forested valley, is a classic thatched 4 – Star Lodge built to 5 – Star standards with all the luxury and modern amenities to match.

Spacious viewing decks surround the main Lodge which overlooks the wooded valley below. A sparkling swimming pool is an inviting alternative to the Kariega River Estuary and is an ideal place to relax and refresh between game drives or other activities. For those guests wanting a little more luxury and comfort than our tented River and Forest Camps, this is the ideal alternative. Bush Lodge is only available to adults with children over the age of 12.

Snaking through the forested kloofs surrounding this Lodge, are many walking and mountain bike trails, ideal for the more adventurous to explore between game drives. The splendour of the scenery and diverse indigenous vegetation along the way are a special treat for all who venture here… Yellowwoods, cycads, wild orchids and numerous colourful birds such as the shy Knysna Turaco and Narina Trogon are just a few of these rare treats. And if really lucky, your wandering explorations could afford you the opportunity to get up close to the forest animals such as the tiny blue duiker, bushbuck or secretive caracal. After a wonderful day game driving in the main reserve with your Ranger or enjoying one of the many other activities on offer, you will, as with all our Camps, be treated to our one of our delicious al fresco dinners with an African twist. Presented to you under a star-studded sky or around a roaring fire, this is an unforgettable experience. The iconic sounds of the African bush at night, amplified by the deep silence, the howl of a Black-backed jackal or the soft hoot of an African Wood-owl add to the unique experience that is Sibuya … a perfect ending to an enthralling day. As you drift off to sleep in the comfort of your bed, your dreams will be filled with the wonders awaiting you in the morning!
