Causing a great stir at Sibuya at the moment are a “pair” of immature Bateleur Eagles (Terathopius ecaudatus). The Eastern Cape used to be part of their range but they disappeared years ago, so the Rarities Committee are also extremely excited by their appearance here on the 4th December 2011!
These magnificent raptors only get their mature plumage when they’re about 7/8 years old, so at this stage we’re not sure if they’re potentially a breeding pair… we’re hoping they are & that they’ll decide to make Sibuya their home! We’ll keep you posted!
